Bhubaneswar Infocity police arrested a man accused of impersonating the son of former MP Krupasindhu Bhoi to commit a massive financial fraud.
Investigators revealed that the accused posed as the ex-MP’s son and duped people through a car service company, allegedly swindling nearly ₹5 crore. Police tracked him down near the Nepal-West Bengal border and took him into custody.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect operated under a false identity to gain trust and extract money from victims. The fraud involved high-profile targets, making the case one of the most sensational scams in recent times.
Police have launched a wider probe to determine if the accused was involved in similar frauds outside Odisha. Officials said they will examine financial records and may seek assistance from specialised teams to uncover the full extent of the scam.
