In a significant boost to Odisha’s tourism and connectivity, direct flight services between Bhubaneswar and Goa will commence from April 1, 2025. The new route will operate from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Bhubaneswar.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the flight services will be operated by IndiGo Airlines under the New Destination Policy of the Odisha government. Flights will be available four days a week—Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting the initiative, stating that the direct connectivity to Goa will open new avenues for tourism, trade, and employment opportunities in Odisha.

Domestic Expansion at BPIA

The Bhubaneswar airport has seen rapid expansion of domestic routes in 2025:

IndiGo started 4x weekly flights to Indore and 3x weekly to Dehradun from January 1.

Air India Express launched Lucknow and Jaipur (3x weekly) and Kochi (daily) services from January 3.

Bengaluru flights began on January 4.

On March 30, Air India Express introduced daily Ghaziabad (Hindon)-Bhubaneswar and Port Blair-Bhubaneswar routes.
IndiGo’s Goa-Bhubaneswar service starts April 1.

To accommodate the growing passenger traffic, a new terminal building was announced in October 2024 at BPIA. The upgrades align with India’s broader aviation growth plans under Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu.

The new Goa-Bhubaneswar connection is expected to significantly strengthen Odisha’s domestic connectivity and boost the tourism sector.
