Authorities at Hinjilicut Autonomous College in Ganjam district have officially suspended the scheduled student union oath-taking ceremony following a violent physical altercation between rival student factions on campus.
The clashes broke out ahead of the official proceedings, fueled by political tensions after the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) secured the President’s post while the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) won all other panel positions.
To prevent further escalation and ensure campus safety, college authorities intervened, suspended the oath ceremony indefinitely, and declared immediate holidays.
In the wake of the violence, all students were evacuated and asked to vacate the college hostels. Management has stated that the postponed oath-taking ceremony will be rescheduled and conducted after the holidays once normalcy is restored across the campus. Local police continue to maintain a strict vigil to monitor the law-and-order situation.
