Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT, delivered a compelling address during the 21st D.P. Kohli Memorial Lecture at CBI’s 62nd Foundation Day.

Stressing the necessity of a techno-legal framework, he outlined strategies to address emerging new-age crimes such as deepfakes, AI-enabled fraud, and cyber threats. He urged for collaboration with academia and researchers to develop advanced technological solutions for investigations.

The Minister called on CBI to establish cutting-edge cyber forensic labs in partnership with academic institutions. He highlighted the agency’s critical role in truth-seeking investigations and effective prosecutions. Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized institutional innovation alongside technological capability to ensure a robust criminal justice system.

Reflecting on India’s rapid progress, the Minister underscored four key pillars of growth strategy: investments in infrastructure, inclusive development programs, manufacturing and innovation, and simplification of legal structures. During the event, President’s Police Medals and Police Medals for Meritorious Service were presented to 26 dedicated CBI officers. The function celebrated the legacy of the late Shri D.P. Kohli, CBI’s founder, and acknowledged the agency’s commitment to integrity, impartiality, and professionalism.
