Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate India’s first quantum test and certification ecosystem on April 14.
The launch coincides with World Quantum Day and marks a major milestone for India’s deep-tech ambitions. The state will unveil two advanced quantum test beds at SRM University and Medha Towers in Gannavaram under the Amaravati Quantum Valley initiative.
Officials said the facilities will enable testing and certification of quantum computing hardware. The 1Q test bed at Medha Towers, developed by Qubitech, and the 1S superconducting test bed at SRM University operate near -273°C, allowing researchers to validate quantum components under near-absolute zero conditions.
The government described the facilities as “Quantum Reference Centres” that will support startups, researchers, and enterprises. The SRM University test bed will function as an open-access platform, encouraging collaboration and innovation in quantum technology.
Institutions such as the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Indian Institute of Science, and DRDO provided technical support. Both test beds use indigenous components, aligning with India’s goal of self-reliance in advanced technology.
Officials said the initiative will position Amaravati as a global hub for quantum innovation. The project aims to attract international partnerships and strengthen India’s presence in quantum computing, communications, and cryptography.
