After a two-year suspension, the Chief Minister’s Air Health Service has been relaunched in Malkangiri district, marking a significant step toward accessible healthcare in remote regions.

The initiative, which was originally launched in 2021 but discontinued in late 2023, has now been revived under the directive of the new state government.

Beginning August 18 and continuing through August 21, a four-day specialist medical camp will operate in the district headquarters, offering advanced treatment to critically ill patients. A team of 12 expert doctors arrived today via chartered aircraft to kickstart the service.

👨‍⚕️ Specialist Team & Services

The medical team includes specialists in:

  • Nephrology
  • Cardiology
  • Neurology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Endocrinology
  • Anesthesiology

Notable doctors in the team include Dr. Jyotirmaya Nayak, Dr. Abhansh Taunk, Dr. Dheeraj Kumar Lenka, Dr. Sanghamitra Sahu, Dr. Sitakanta Panda, Dr. Rakesh Mohanty, Dr. Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Dr. Aruna Acharya, Dr. Kaibalya Ranjan Das, Dr. Ujjwalaya Kumar Jena, Dr. Bijay Kumar Sahu, and Dr. Raj Kumar Mahapatra.

🏥 A Lifeline for Remote Patients

The Air Health Service was initially designed to bridge the healthcare gap in backward districts like Malkangiri, where access to specialised treatment is limited. During its previous phase, over 541 critically ill patients benefited from the initiative. With its revival, patients from Malkangiri and surrounding areas will now receive high-quality medical care without having to travel long distances.

🙏 Public Response

The district residents have expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Mohan Majhi for reinstating the service. The announcement has sparked a wave of optimism and relief among locals, especially those battling serious health conditions.

This renewed effort underscores the government’s commitment to equitable healthcare and its focus on reaching underserved populations through innovative delivery models.
