The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched simultaneous raids against Dr Basanta Das, the Director of the ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (CIFRI), over allegations of possessing disproportionate assets.
According to sources, a high-level CBI team raided multiple locations linked to Dr Das early this morning. The searches included his three-storey residential building located in the Jagaamara area of Bhubaneswar, his official workplace near Kolkata, and his ancestral home in Balasore.
ICAR-CIFRI is a premier institution under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), headquartered in Barrackpore near Kolkata, renowned globally for its pioneering work in inland fisheries research. Dr Das is currently serving as the director of this prestigious organisation.
During the ongoing raids, CBI officials have been thoroughly examining various financial records, property documents, bank details, and critical paperwork.
