The Pakistan Army crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and opened fire in the KG sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, violating the ceasefire, Hindustan Times reported, citing army sources.

“On 01 Apr 25, a mine blast occurred in Krishna Ghati Sector due to Pakistan Army intrusion across LC. This was followed by unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army. Own troops responded effectively in a controlled and calibrated manner. Situation is under control and being closely monitored,” the official said.

The Indian Army responded in a controlled and measured manner. Officials assured that the situation is under control and is being closely monitored.

The Army official also emphasised the need to uphold the 2021 agreement between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGsMO) to maintain peace along the LoC.

An Indian Army official said the Nangi Tekri Battalion, under the Krishna Ghati Brigade, responded strongly to the unprovoked attack

The ceasefire violation happened as security forces were already conducting operations in Panjtirthi, Kathua. They had stepped up efforts after an earlier exchange of fire with terrorists. On the night of March 31, suspicious movement was spotted, leading to a joint operation by the Indian Army, J&K Police, and CRPF. A fresh encounter followed in the early hours of April 1.

In response to the encounter, security forces launched a search operation at dawn. Surveillance and ambush teams were set up based on intelligence, and the area remains on high alert. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, Hindustan Times reported.
