An injured tusker has been roaming near the Bharatpur-Chandaka road in Bhubaneswar, causing traffic disruptions at Andharua Square.
The elephant, limping due to a wound on its left leg, has drawn concern from commuters and wildlife officials alike. Forest department teams are working tirelessly to steer the tusker back into the Chandaka forest zone to ensure its safety and public security.
Officials confirmed that the elephant was tranquillised and treated on Tuesday, but it has since wandered back toward the road, moving slowly and cautiously. The department has deployed additional personnel to monitor its movement and prevent accidents.
The sighting has once again highlighted the recurring human-elephant conflict around Chandaka, where wild herds often stray close to urban areas.
