A violent clash between two brothers turned tragic late Tuesday night when they allegedly hurled bombs at each other during a quarrel at Mahul village under Angarapada panchayat in Chandaka police limits.
The explosion killed Mohan Padhi on the spot and left his younger brother Madan Padhi critically injured, with severe wounds including the loss of one palm. Madan was first admitted to Capital Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, for advanced treatment.
Preliminary investigation suggests the brothers had stored crude bombs at home for wildlife hunting. The argument escalated, leading both to throw explosives at each other. The twin blasts rocked the locality, prompting an immediate police response.
Teams from Chandaka Police, Bhubaneswar DCP, and Zone‑6 ACP reached the scene, while a scientific team collected samples for forensic analysis. Police have launched a detailed probe into the incident.
