Amitabh Bachchan has put an end to speculation about his retirement, clarifying that a recent remark in his blog was misinterpreted as an indication that he was planning to step away from acting and television.
The veteran actor addressed the rumours in his latest blog post, explaining that his earlier reference to it being “time to retire” simply meant that it was late and he was going to bed. He also appeared to take a swipe at the media for interpreting the remark as a retirement announcement.

Amitabh Bachchan said his previous blog had been misunderstood after reports surfaced suggesting that he could be preparing to announce his retirement.
Clarifying the remark, he wrote, “I wrote in the blog .. ‘it’s late, time to retire .. ’ which we all know means retire to bed it’s late .. and this is the Media – the CONSCIENCE of a NATION – THE ULTIMATE INFORMER !!”
The actor also shared a newspaper clipping of a report that interpreted his comments as a hint at retirement.
In his latest post, Amitabh made it clear that he has no plans to retire from his professional commitments anytime soon.
‘I am not retiring from work any time soon’
Addressing the speculation in Hindi, Amitabh wrote, “Ji nahin huzoor, main kaam se retire nahin ho raha hoon; Angrezi mein iska matlab hota hai main ab sone jaa raha hoon. Aur wahan maanyavar aapko aane ka nimantran nahin hai.”
The actor is currently hosting the 18th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). He has been associated with the popular quiz show since it first premiered in 2000.
Amitabh did not host KBC in 2007, when Shah Rukh Khan took over as the show’s host for one season. Big B later returned to the programme and has remained its face for most of its run.

On the film front, Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in the 2024 Tamil film Vettaiyan, alongside Rajinikanth. He has also lent his voice as a narrator for Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur.
The actor is set to reprise his role as Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2. The sequel will also feature Prabhas as Bhairava and Kamal Haasan as Supreme Yaskin.
With his latest clarification, Amitabh has firmly dismissed speculation that his decades-long acting and television career is nearing its end.
