A man was killed on the spot today after a speeding goods-laden truck ran over his vehicle on NH-16 near Bishnupur in Bhadrak district.
The accident triggered intense public tension, briefly holding up vehicular movement along the busy national highway.
According to sources, the collision occurred between a heavily loaded truck and the bike. The impact was severe enough that the truck crushed the bike and its rider, causing instant death.
While police have not officially confirmed the deceased’s identity, locals who gathered at the crash site noticed a tool bag on the spot. Based on the contents of the bag, they suspect the deceased was an electrical technician by profession.
After receiving information, a team from the Bhadrak Rural Police Station rushed to the scene. The body was then sent for post-mortem. Both the truck and the damaged bike were seized for forensic inspection.
