A roadside tea stall in VSS Nagar was raided by the Odisha Excise Department after officials allegedly found cannabis being sold from inside the cabin.
The operation led to the seizure of contraband and the detention of a suspected peddler.
The stall, which appeared ordinary from outside, was discovered to be a concealed hub for ganja trade, with piles of cannabis and GoGo rolling papers recovered during the raid. Officials said customers used the code word “GoGo” in sign language to procure ganja‑packed cigarettes.
The accused, a history‑sheeter with pending NDPS cases, admitted to sourcing cannabis from drivers and selling it in small packets. “I am in debt now; hence, I was doing this illegal activity out of lust for money,” he told investigators.
Excise DSP confirmed that the accused had been arrested earlier for similar offences. A joint team of Excise and BMC demolished the shop following the raid. Around 3 kg of cannabis was seized.
