Odisha Vigilance secured the conviction of Kartikeswar Sahu, Former Soil Conservation Officer, Purunakatak, Boudh, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
Sahu, who had retired from service, was charge‑sheeted under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for possessing assets beyond his known sources of income. The Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani, sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.
Following the conviction, Vigilance officials confirmed that they will move the competent authority to stop Sahu’s pension benefits as per service rules.
