Crime concerns have escalated in Bhubaneswar after a new gang, dubbed the ‘Oil-Smeared’ looters, carried out a series of burglaries in the Durga Madhab Nagar area under Bharatpur police limits.
According to reports, the gang members, wearing masks and smearing their bodies with oil, broke into over four houses late at night. They looted valuables and created panic among residents. The oil coating made it difficult for locals to catch them, as they slipped away easily when confronted.
Several incidents were captured on CCTV cameras, providing crucial evidence for investigators. Following the reports, Bharatpur police reached the spot and launched a probe. Raids are underway in different areas to identify and arrest the gang members.
The incident has sparked fear and concern among residents, raising serious questions about safety in the capital city. Police have intensified night patrolling and tightened security measures in the locality to prevent further incidents.
