The unrest at Ravenshaw University intensified today as members of the Ravenshaw University Teachers’ Association (RUTA) launched a mass leave agitation and staged a dharna in front of the Vice‑Chancellor’s office.
The protest began at 10 AM and will continue till 5 PM. RUTA leaders said the decision was taken after the Vice‑Chancellor allegedly failed to issue any clarification on external interference in campus affairs, did not act on their demands, and refused to meet their delegation.
RUTA spokesperson Professor Netaji Abhinandan stated, “The Vice‑Chancellor has not issued any statement regarding outside interference, has taken no decision on our demands, and most unfortunately, has refused to meet our delegation. Hence, we have decided to go on mass leave today and stage a dharna before the VC office.”
The agitation comes amid a standoff over the alleged spat between a teacher and an MLA, and the transfer of a hostel warden, which has triggered widespread discontent among faculty members.
