Telugu actor Allu Arjun faced criticism on social media after sharing an Independence Day post featuring an illustration of the Indian Tricolour that appeared without the Ashoka Chakra. The actor subsequently deleted the post.
The graphic showed the Tricolour flying over the Red Fort and carried the message “HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY”. Allu Arjun’s logo was also visible in the artwork. While an Ashoka Chakra appeared in the background, it was missing from the depiction of the national flag.
Allu Arjun’s post draws criticism
The omission quickly caught the attention of social media users, who criticised the actor for the design. Screenshots of the deleted post were later shared online.
Some users questioned why the Ashoka Chakra was absent from the flag, while others objected to the inclusion of the actor’s logo in an image featuring the Red Fort.
One social media user said deleting the post was not enough and described the incident as “shameful and childish”. Another criticised the actor for what they described as a lack of knowledge about the Indian national flag.
The controversy comes shortly after India celebrated its 80th Independence Day on August 15.
