A newborn baby boy was found abandoned inside a drain near Sitapada in Udit Nagar on Saturday morning.
According to reports, the infant had been placed inside a bag and thrown into the drain. Local residents noticed the baby and immediately rushed to rescue him before informing the police.
Police reached the spot soon after and shifted the newborn to the Rourkela Government Hospital, where he was admitted for medical care. Despite heavy rainfall in the area, the baby survived and is currently under observation.
Authorities have launched an investigation to identify the person responsible for abandoning the child. Further details are awaited as police continue their probe.
