Odisha Vigilance today caught Mukesh Kumar Mishra, Traffic Inspector of the Office of RTO, Sundaragada, red‑handed while accepting a Rs 20,000 bribe from a truck owner.
According to officials, Mishra had demanded the amount as a monthly quota to allow two HYVA trucks to operate smoothly under his jurisdiction for June and July 2026. Unable to meet the demand, the complainant approached Vigilance authorities, who swiftly laid a trap.
The team apprehended Mishra while receiving the bribe and recovered the entire tainted amount from his possession. Simultaneous searches are underway at three locations linked to the accused from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 at Rourkela Vigilance PS Case No. 06 dated 02.08.2026. Investigation is in progress against Mishra.
