The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Thursday dismissed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on establishing fast-track courts for paper leak cases, maintaining that its primary demand remains the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.
The student-led outfit said the government’s latest measure does not address the issue of political accountability.
‘Dharmendra Pradhan Must Resign’
Shortly after the Prime Minister announced the decision on X, the CJP responded with a brief statement on the social media platform.
“Dharmendra Pradhan Must Resign.”
The response indicates that the organisation remains firm on its demand, holding the Education Minister accountable for the alleged examination irregularities and the government’s handling of the issue.
PM Modi Announces Fast-Track Courts
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi announced that the Centre would establish fast-track courts to ensure speedy trials and strict punishment in paper leak cases.
In his post on X, the Prime Minister said protecting students’ interests is the government’s highest priority.
“Nothing is more important than the welfare and future of our youth. We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks. Those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spared.”
The announcement marked the Prime Minister’s first public remarks on the NEET paper leak controversy, which has sparked protests across the country.
Student Protests Continue
The announcement comes as the CJP-led protest continues in New Delhi, where students have been demanding accountability over the alleged paper leak and broader reforms in the examination system.
The agitation has drawn thousands of participants to Jantar Mantar, while the issue has become a major flashpoint between the ruling BJP and Opposition parties.
Government and CJP Stand Firm
The BJP has defended the Centre’s handling of the controversy, with senior leaders, including Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, accusing Opposition parties of politicising the issue.
The CJP, however, has maintained that judicial action alone is insufficient and continues to demand the Education Minister’s resignation, along with accountability for those responsible for the alleged examination irregularities.
