Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced the establishment of fast-track courts to ensure speedy trials in paper leak cases, stating that those responsible for jeopardising students’ futures would face strict punishment.

The announcement comes amid nationwide protests over alleged examination irregularities, with demonstrators demanding accountability and reforms in the examination system.

‘Future of Our Youth Will Be Protected’: PM Modi

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said safeguarding students’ interests remains a top priority and directed authorities to expedite the process of setting up dedicated courts.

“Nothing is more important than the welfare and future of our youth! We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks. Have directed the concerned authorities and officials to take all necessary steps in this regard. This continues our series of steps for safeguarding the interests of students. Those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spared,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister described the move as part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen the integrity of the country’s examination system and ensure justice for affected students.

Announcement Comes Amid Nationwide Student Protests

The announcement follows widespread protests across the country over alleged paper leaks and examination irregularities.

The agitation, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and supported by several Opposition parties, has intensified in recent days, with demands including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and comprehensive reforms to the examination process.

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had on Wednesday claimed that there have been ove 150 paper leaks over the last 10 years, but there has been not a single conviction in these cases.

Delhi Protest Turned Violent

The protests escalated on July 20, when CJP supporters attempted to march towards Parliament in New Delhi. The demonstration witnessed clashes between protesters and the police after security forces stopped the march near central Delhi.

The incident has since triggered political debate, legal proceedings and renewed calls for greater transparency and accountability in the conduct of national-level examinations.
