In a significant move to strengthen Odisha’s grassroots revenue machinery, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari held a detailed meeting with members of the Revenue Field Officers Association at Lok Seva Bhavan here on Wednesday.
The high-level interaction focused on the real challenges faced by field-level revenue warriors — Revenue Inspectors (RI), Additional Revenue Inspectors (ARI), Amins and other officers and staff who work closest to the people. Discussions revolved around making their daily work smoother, boosting their efficiency and ensuring they have the right support to deliver better revenue administration across the state.
Looking ahead, the Minister gave clear direction on several practical reforms. The area under each RI Circle will be reduced so that officials can manage their responsibilities more effectively and reach people faster. All Revenue Inspector offices will receive necessary funds for day-to-day functioning. Recruitment processes for various posts will be sped up with a more transparent, robust and simplified selection system. Special arrangements will also be made to cover field-visit expenses so that officials can conduct inspections without financial burden.

The meeting also reviewed proposals to streamline promotions, amend cadre rules and carry out cadre restructuring to create a more motivated and efficient workforce.
Addressing the officers directly, Minister Pujari urged them to perform their duties with full dedication, honesty and integrity. He called upon them to work as true public servants and make revenue services more accessible and citizen-friendly for the common people of Odisha.
The Revenue Field Officers Association expressed deep gratitude to the Minister for his sensitive understanding of their issues and the positive assurances given for their early resolution.
Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, along with other senior officers of the department and representatives of the association, were present during the meeting.
This proactive engagement is expected to bring meaningful improvements in the functioning of Odisha’s revenue administration at the grassroots level.
