Police in Sundargarh reported a shocking case of abduction, robbery and murder involving a youth from Jharkhand. Three assailants allegedly kidnapped, robbed and stabbed Shivdhan Lohar to death before fleeing in his stolen car.
The incident began on June 28 when complainant Anmol Malik and his friend Shivdhan Lohar admitted a patient at GMCH, Sundaragada. While returning separately, three motorcycle-borne assailants chased their vehicles near Subdega. Anmol escaped in his Scorpio, but the attackers intercepted Shivdhan’s Alto, robbed him of his belongings and stabbed him.
The accused forced Shivdhan back into his car, drove towards Duduka railway overbridge and stabbed him multiple times before dumping his body in a stream. They fled in the stolen Alto towards Bhedabahal.
On June 29, the car overturned near Khamarbahal under Bhasma police limits. Police found one accused, Subhendu Sekhar Majhi of Deuli village, dead. Another accused, Bhumeswar Behera of Duduka village, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment in Rourkela. A juvenile in conflict with law suffered minor injuries and was apprehended.
Police recovered the stolen purse, identification documents, the alleged weapon of offence and the damaged Alto. Investigators secured all crime scenes for forensic examination.
A special investigation team under the Superintendent of Police, Sundargarh, is probing the case. The SDPO, Sadar, Sundaragada, has taken charge of the investigation. Police are verifying the criminal antecedents of the accused and exploring possible involvement of others.
