In a major relief for healthcare services across Odisha, the Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) has agreed to suspend its ongoing agitation following a highly positive and constructive meeting with Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling.

The meeting, held today at the Minister’s office chamber, marked a significant breakthrough as both sides engaged in open and solution-oriented discussions.

Dr. Mahaling gave due importance to the demands raised by OMSA and assured the doctors’ body that their issues would be examined thoroughly with positive action to follow.

Placing public health and patient welfare above everything else, the Minister urged OMSA to call off the agitation. Responding positively to the government’s assurance, OMSA decided to suspend its stir immediately. The association expressed its commitment to continue dialogue with the government while ensuring that health services across the state remain uninterrupted and accessible to the people.

The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with OMSA leaders reaffirming their dedication to public interest and seamless delivery of healthcare.

Key participants in the meeting included Dr Brinda D, Mission Director of National Health Mission; Mahesh Mohan Panda, Director of Health Services; Gourahari Behera, Additional Secretary; and from the OMSA side — President Dr. Kishore Chandra Mishra, General Secretary Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Pradhan, along with other senior office bearers.

This positive development has brought much-needed respite to patients and healthcare delivery across Odisha.
