An Odisha government team has reached Chennai to coordinate relief, medical assistance, and other necessary arrangements following the tragic gas leak incident that affected several migrant workers from the state.

According to an update shared by Shri Rajesh Agrawala, Special Secretary of the Labour & ESI Department, who is leading the Odisha government delegation, one deceased worker’s body was shifted to Chennai on Friday night. The post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted on Saturday.

To ensure smooth coordination of official procedures, Odisha team member Shri M.M. Paik will remain in Chennai and work closely with the Joint Commissioner of Labour and officials of the Government Medical College Hospital regarding the post-mortem and other related formalities.

Meanwhile, Shri Rajesh Agrawala and Shri B.B. Acharya will travel to Tiruvallur, where several injured workers continue to receive treatment. Officials said some of the workers remain in critical condition. Another deceased worker’s body is currently located in Tiruvallur.

The Odisha government has also taken steps to support workers affected by the incident. Around 130 workers have been accommodated in a nearby community hall, where arrangements for food and other essential facilities have been made.

Officials have established contact with senior Labour Department authorities in Chennai and Tiruvallur. Coordination with the local administration and healthcare institutions is ongoing to ensure timely assistance to the affected workers and their families.

The Odisha government is closely monitoring the situation and further updates are expected as rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation efforts continue.
