India will host the BRICS National Security Advisers’ (NSA) meeting on June 22 and 23, with Ajit Doval chairing the session.

The meeting will set the stage for the BRICS Summit scheduled in September.

The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the theme for the meeting is “Non-traditional security challenges confronting the world today.” National Security Advisers and Heads of Delegation from BRICS member countries will exchange views on evolving threats and the role of new technologies in shaping global security.

Delegates will also review the outcomes of recent BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and on Security in the use of Information and Communication Technologies. The discussions aim to strengthen cooperation among BRICS nations on pressing global issues.

India holds the BRICS Chairship for the fourth time in 2026, having previously chaired in 2012, 2016, and 2021. The Chairship follows the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s people-centric approach articulated at the 2025 Rio Summit.

BRICS now includes eleven major emerging markets and developing countries: Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. The grouping serves as a platform for consultation and cooperation on global political, economic, and security issues.
