Commissionerate Police arrested Bapi Nayak (22), a habitual offender, in connection with a violent robbery near Adarsha Basti, Niladri Vihar, Bhubaneswar that occurred on the evening of 19th March 2025. The arrest follows Chandrasekharpur PS Case No. 125 dated 20th March 2025, filed under U/s 309(4) BNS.

The complainant, Mr. Arjit Dash (39), reported that while walking towards Adarsha Basti with his friend, Kalia Nayak (24), three assailants—Santosh Kumar Sahu, Bapi Nayak, and Chotu—attacked them without provocation. Dash was robbed of a mobile phone and Rs 1500 in cash. Despite resistance, the attackers assaulted him and issued life threats before fleeing.

Acting promptly on intelligence, police raided Pandapark Basti on 23rd March 2025, apprehending Bapi Nayak. During interrogation, Nayak confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of ₹1000 cash and the stolen mobile phone. Further investigations are ongoing to trace other accomplices.

Bapi Nayak has been previously implicated in narcotics, illegal liquor trade, and preparation for dacoity cases under Chandrasekharpur Police Station, confirming his status as a repeat offender.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police commended the swift action, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining law and order. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to ensure justice for the victim and capture all involved.
