An elephant calf less than one month old was found dead inside Sanghaposhi KF near Sanghaposhi under Kundheigola section of Reamal Range in Deogarh district on Saturday morning.

Officials conducted a preliminary investigation and suggested that the death was likely due to natural causes. They confirmed that the exact cause will be determined after a postmortem examination.
The incident has raised concern among forest officials and conservationists, as elephant calf deaths highlight the vulnerability of young elephants in the wild. Authorities emphasised that the investigation will follow standard wildlife protocols to ensure clarity and transparency.
The forest department continues to monitor the area and has assured that further details will be shared once the postmortem report is available.
