A shocking murder in Titlagarh, Bolangir, has stirred the town after a man allegedly killed his younger brother in a drunken fit of rage.
The incident occurred in Nehru Nagar on Saturday evening, exposing the grim consequences of alcohol-fueled violence.
Police said Kapil Sabrawal, 42, attacked his younger brother Jiten Majhi, 35, with a knife following a heated argument after both had consumed liquor at a roadside eatery. The quarrel escalated when they returned home, and Kapil, in an intoxicated state, stabbed Jiten multiple times.
After the attack, Kapil rushed his unconscious brother to the government hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The news spread quickly, shocking residents of Titilagarh. Police seized the body and arrested Kapil for murder.
A scientific team from Balangir arrived on Sunday to conduct forensic analysis and recreate the crime scene. Investigators are probing the motive behind the fatal assault and recording statements from family members.
The body was preserved in the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination before being handed over to relatives. Locals expressed outrage over the incident, calling it a tragic reminder of how alcohol addiction destroys families.
Police confirmed that Kapil remains in custody and faces charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation continues to determine whether premeditation or provocation led to the killing.
