India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval held a series of high-level meetings with leaders from Russia and Myanmar during his visit to Moscow for the International Security Forum and the 14th Meeting of High Representatives for Security Matters.

The event, hosted by Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, focused on global security challenges, geopolitical tensions and the emerging multipolar world order.

Doval reviews defence and energy ties with Russia

On May 28, Ajit Doval met Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, where both sides reviewed cooperation in defence, energy and space sectors.

The discussions highlighted the long-standing strategic partnership between India and Russia. During the visit, the Russian side also facilitated Doval’s tour of the National Space Center and the Roscosmos Joint Industry Information Centre.

The meetings come at a time when India and Russia continue to deepen collaboration in defence technology, energy security and space research.

India and Myanmar discuss regional cooperation

On the sidelines of the forum, Doval also met Myanmar’s National Security Adviser Tin Aung San. The two leaders discussed cooperation in security, defence and regional connectivity projects.

They also exchanged views on regional developments and the importance of strengthening ties under India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy.

Myanmar’s NSA is expected to visit India in July for the fifth meeting of National Security Advisers from BIMSTEC countries.

Doval speaks against terrorism

During the forum, Ajit Doval strongly criticised double standards in the global fight against terrorism.

Addressing delegates, he said responsible nations must clearly decide whether they support terrorism or actively work to eliminate it through decisive action.

He also stressed the importance of protecting international trade routes, especially amid rising tensions in West Asia.

Doval highlighted that uninterrupted movement through key waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea remains essential for global economic stability and energy security.

Focus on BRICS and global security

Doval also held discussions with Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu regarding upcoming BRICS-related security meetings scheduled to take place in New Delhi.

The talks reflected India’s growing role in shaping regional and international security conversations through platforms such as BRICS and BIMSTEC.

The Moscow meetings are being viewed as part of India’s broader diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships and enhancing regional stability.
