In a massive pop culture collaboration, Oreo has officially teamed up with global K-pop sensation BTS to launch a special limited-edition cookie inspired by South Korean street food and the band’s journey over the past 13 years.
The new “Purple Pancake” Oreo cookies feature the brand’s first-ever purple wafers along with a unique hotteok-flavoured creme filling, marking one of Oreo’s biggest international campaigns to date.
Oreo Introduces BTS-Inspired Purple Cookies
Created as a tribute to BTS and their worldwide fanbase known as ARMY, the special edition cookies swap Oreo’s traditional chocolate wafers for a vibrant purple design — a colour strongly associated with the group and their fans.
The creme filling has been inspired by hotteok, a popular Korean sweet pancake filled with brown sugar, cinnamon and syrup. According to the company, the flavour pays homage to a snack enjoyed by BTS members during their childhood in South Korea.
13 Special Designs Hidden Inside The Cookies
To celebrate BTS’ 13th anniversary since debuting in 2013, Oreo has included 13 unique embossments across the cookie wafers.
Fans can spot:
- Names of all seven BTS members
- The group’s iconic light stick symbol
- Exclusive collectible-style patterns
- A hidden secret message revealed when three designs are placed together
The collaboration aims to create a more personal and interactive experience for BTS fans worldwide.
Oreo’s Biggest Global Collaboration Yet
Parent company Mondelēz International confirmed that the Oreo x BTS collection will launch across more than 80 countries, making it one of the brand’s largest global rollouts ever.
Matt Foley, Vice President of Marketing at Oreo, said the campaign goes beyond a regular product launch and reflects the growing global influence of Korean pop culture.
The collaboration also arrives at a major moment for BTS as the group resumes activities following members’ mandatory military service hiatus.
