Odisha Vigilance secured the conviction of Alexander Ekka, Former Panchayat Secretary of Jodakudar Gram Panchayat under Lathikata Block, Sundargarh district, in a corruption case.
On May 22, 2026, the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh, sentenced Ekka to two years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹20,000. The conviction followed charges under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(c) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 409 of the IPC.
Investigators established that Ekka misappropriated office cash and rice allotted to Jodakudar Gram Panchayat. Vigilance officials said the fraudulent activity directly impacted local beneficiaries who depended on the Panchayat for essential supplies.
