Passengers travelling on state-run and private stage carriages in Odisha will have to shell out a little more from today onwards.
In a fresh order issued this morning, the Transport Commissioner-cum-Chairman, State Transport Authority, Odisha, has announced a revision in bus fares, citing the rising cost of diesel.
The order notes that the price of diesel has climbed from Rs 92.62 per litre on 16 March 2024 to Rs 95.87 per litre on 15 May 2026 — a direct increase of Rs 3.25 and a cumulative rise of Rs 4.80 including carryover effects.
To offset the higher operational costs for bus operators, fares for all categories of stage carriages (except town buses) have been hiked by 2–6 paise per kilometre.

All other terms and conditions mentioned in the earlier Transport Department notifications dated 08.02.2021 and 04.06.2015 continue to remain in force. The Transport Commissioner has directed that the revised rates be implemented across the state without delay.
