Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a six-day visit to the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy on May 15 to reinforce India’s global partnerships amid geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty.
In the UAE, Modi will meet President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to deepen the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discuss regional developments, including the West Asia conflict. The Netherlands is India’s fourth-largest foreign investor, with bilateral trade reaching USD 27.8 billion in 2024-25.
Modi will then travel to Sweden from May 17 to 18 to meet Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and address the European Round Table for Industry with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Talks will cover green transition, AI, startups, and defence cooperation.
In Norway, Modi will attend the third India-Nordic Summit and hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store. The visit aims to boost trade, investment, and collaboration in clean technology and the blue economy.
The final leg in Italy from May 19 to 20 will include meetings with President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The focus will be on investment, defence, clean energy, and innovation under the joint strategic action plan 2025–2029.
