The investigation into the Kanas police station case (No. 106/26) gained momentum as the main accused, Sudhanshu Mahapatra alias Happy, surrendered before the Puri court today.
Police had earlier arrested four suspects within 36 hours of the incident. During subsequent raids, another associate, Balaram Chhotray alias Nilu, was arrested from Raypur. He hails from Chandapada village and was produced in court on May 9.
Under sustained police pressure and strict legal action, Sudhanshu Mahapatra, son of Shesadev Mahapatra of Chandapada village, surrendered in court. He resides in the Canal Road area. The court remanded him to judicial custody while police initiated steps to seek remand for further interrogation.
Officials said the investigation continues with scientific teams collecting evidence and examining links between the accused. Police assured that they will pursue the case rigorously to ensure justice.
