The Lingaraj Temple Satwalipi Committee submitted its second interim report to Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan in Bhubaneswar on April 27.

The report outlines a series of proposals aimed at strengthening temple administration, improving sevayat welfare, and enhancing facilities for devotees.

The two‑member committee, chaired by Justice Dr Durga Prasanna Choudhury with Professor Prafulla Kumar Mishra as a member, presented nearly 16 recommendations. These include structured rituals, renovation of the sanctum and temple kitchen, installation of modern lighting, and introduction of specialised training programs for sevayats. The committee also suggested appointing a dedicated officer to oversee temple management and streamline hundi operations.

Proposals further address land dispute resolution and improved welfare measures for sevayats. The committee emphasised the importance of maintaining discipline in rituals while ensuring transparency in temple finances.

Minister Harichandan received the report and assured that the government will conduct a detailed review. He stated that subsequent decisions will focus on creating the best possible arrangements for sevayats, employees, and devotees while preserving the sanctity of Lingaraj Temple.

Senior officials, including Principal Secretary of the Law Department Dr Pavitra Mohan Samal and Additional Secretary Shiv Prasad Mahapatra, attended the submission ceremony.
