Olympic medallist and World Champion P. V. Sindhu has entered the global governance of badminton by assuming a full voting seat on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Council.
Her appointment follows her election as Chair of the BWF Athletes’ Commission, marking a milestone for active athletes in international sports administration.
Sindhu completed the formal vetting process and officially joined the BWF Council at the end of 2025. She made her first appearance before the global badminton community during the BWF Annual General Meeting in Horsens, Denmark, where she began her tenure within the sport’s highest decision‑making body.
As a voting member, Sindhu will contribute to strategic discussions shaping badminton’s future worldwide. Her role ensures that elite athletes’ voices and experiences influence governance, promoting inclusivity and balance in policy decisions.
Sindhu described her new responsibility as an honour and expressed gratitude to BWF President Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul for her support. She pledged to represent athletes globally and strengthen badminton’s growth through collaboration with the Council and the BWF community.
