Tension erupted at an Aahar Centre near the State Library in Bhubaneswar after students alleged that a scorpion was found in the meal served on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses said a group of students noticed the insect while eating and immediately stopped consuming the food. The discovery triggered panic and outrage among those present at the centre.

Several students refused to eat and demanded immediate action against the staff responsible for food preparation. They claimed the incident reflected poor hygiene and negligence in maintaining cleanliness at the government-run facility.

The Aahar Centre, located within the State Library premises, serves subsidised meals to hundreds of visitors daily. Locals expressed concern over food safety standards and urged the administration to conduct regular inspections.
