In a significant step towards improving bilateral ties, direct flight services between Beijing and Delhi have resumed. Chinese carrier Air China has restarted its Beijing–Delhi route, marking a major development in international travel connectivity between the two nations.
The service is scheduled to operate three times a week—Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—using Airbus A330 aircraft. Flights are expected to depart Beijing at 3:15 PM and arrive in Delhi at 8:20 PM (local time), with economy fares starting from approximately 3,570 yuan (around USD 523).
More Routes Strengthen Travel Network
The resumption of this route follows a series of recent developments aimed at enhancing connectivity:
- China Eastern Airlines resumed its Kunming–Kolkata service on April 18.
- IndiGo launched direct flights between Kolkata and Shanghai.
- IndiGo also began daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou in November 2025.
These additions are expected to improve travel convenience, boost tourism, and facilitate business exchanges between the two countries.
Background: Flights Suspended Since 2020
Direct flights between India and China had been suspended since 2020 due to the Galwan Valley clash and the COVID-19 pandemic. The gradual restoration of air services reflects improving diplomatic engagement and mutual efforts to rebuild ties.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently stated that India–China relations are on a “correct path” of development. Both nations are working to strengthen cooperation while managing differences, signaling a positive shift in regional dynamics.
