The Government of Odisha has intensified its crackdown on LPG black marketing and illegal storage, ensuring uninterrupted supply while taking strict action against violations.
The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department has launched statewide enforcement measures to curb malpractice and protect consumer interests.
Statewide Inspections Underway
Officials from the Food Supplies Department are conducting regular inspections across all districts. Dedicated teams are actively monitoring LPG distribution points, including gas agencies and other suspected locations, and are reporting daily updates to higher authorities.
These inspections aim to ensure transparency, prevent hoarding, and maintain fair access to essential commodities for all consumers.
Large-Scale Seizures and Legal Action
As part of the enforcement drive, inspections have been carried out at 2,746 locations across all 30 districts of the state. Authorities have seized a total of 5,308 LPG cylinders from various sites, including unauthorized storage facilities.
Legal action has been initiated under the Essential Commodities Act, with:
- 397 cases registered
- 31 FIRs filed
- 5 individuals arrested for illegal hoarding and black marketing
Strict Action Against Violators
The government has reiterated its zero-tolerance approach toward black marketing and illegal practices. Individuals found involved in unauthorized storage or distribution of LPG cylinders are facing stringent legal consequences.

Despite the crackdown, authorities have confirmed that LPG supply across Odisha remains stable and uninterrupted. The ongoing enforcement drive is aimed at safeguarding consumer rights and ensuring equitable distribution of essential resources.
