In a devastating workplace accident, two young men lost their lives after coming into contact with live electricity while working on wiring a newly constructed house in Sana Ramchandrapur village under Rambha police station limits in Ganjam district.
The deceased have been identified as Deepu Behera and Ajay Behera, both residents of nearby Madhurchua village.
According to initial reports, the duo was engaged in electrical installation work inside the under-construction house when the fatal incident occurred.
Eyewitnesses said the pair suddenly came in contact with a live wire, resulting in instant electrocution. Despite efforts by locals to rush them for medical help, both were declared dead on arrival.
The exact cause — whether due to a faulty connection, lack of safety equipment, or an unexpected power surge — is yet to be ascertained.
Rambha police reached the spot shortly after the incident, recovered the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem. A case has been registered, and an investigation has begun to determine if there was any negligence on the part of the house owner or the workers themselves.
