Boudh district administration ordered a five-day closure of all educational institutions due to severe heatwave conditions.
District Collector directed Anganwadi Centres, schools, colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Odisha Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, and technical institutions to remain closed until April 22. The order followed a Red Warning issued by the India Meteorological Department for the district.
Examinations scheduled during this period will continue. Authorities may shift exam timings to morning hours to avoid peak heat. Heads of institutions must ensure drinking water facilities and implement safety measures to protect students and staff.
The Collector emphasised strict adherence to heatwave safety protocols. Schools and colleges must provide shaded areas and hydration points. The administration highlighted the importance of safeguarding children from heat-related illnesses.
Western and interior districts of Odisha, including Boudh, recorded maximum temperatures above 40°C. The closure aligns with precautionary measures taken in Bolangir and Sonepur, where similar directives were issued.
