Tension gripped Sundargarh late Saturday night when miscreants opened fire at the residence of coal trader Sanjay Nand.

According to reports, a group of youths arrived at Nand’s house and argued with security personnel. After creating a disturbance, they left the spot. Within minutes, the same group returned on motorcycles and fired multiple rounds at the house before fleeing.

Security guards narrowly escaped the attack. No casualties were reported. Police reached the scene immediately and seized weapons from the spot. Investigators suspect the incident is linked to illegal coal trading and rivalry in the mining sector.

Senior police officers visited the location and supervised the case. Raids are underway to identify and apprehend the attackers. Authorities confirmed that further investigation is in progress.
