Delhi Assembly bomb threat

The Delhi Legislative Assembly and Speaker Vijender Gupta received bomb threat emails early Tuesday, triggering a massive security response across the capital.

The threats arrived just before the Delhi Budget presentation.

Officials confirmed that the first email reached the Assembly at 7:28 a.m., followed by another at 7:49 a.m. on the Speaker’s official account. Both messages warned of blasts at the Assembly and the nearby Vidhan Sabha Metro Station.

The emails named several national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa were also mentioned.

The threats carried provocative language and referenced support for a Khalistan referendum. A group calling itself the “Khalistani National Army” allegedly issued warnings against the Delhi Chief Minister, the Cabinet, and the Lieutenant Governor.

Security agencies immediately launched an investigation into the origin of the emails. Bomb disposal squads and police teams reached the Assembly and adjoining areas. Authorities also tightened security at key installations across Delhi to ensure public safety.

The bomb threat emails have raised serious concerns about security in the national capital. Investigators are working to trace the source and credibility of the threats while maintaining heightened vigilance across sensitive zones.
