A pregnant woman admitted to the maternity ward of Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital has gone missing, prompting a police investigation.
According to hospital sources, the woman from the JK Pur area was admitted two days ago with a four-month pregnancy. On Monday night, she reportedly disappeared under unknown circumstances. Hospital authorities, after learning of her absence, informed senior officials.
Following the alert, the Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) lodged a formal complaint at the Town Police Station. Inspector Prasanna Kumar Behera confirmed that the hospital filed the missing report, and police have begun inquiries.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the hospital premises to trace her movements before and after she left the ward. Officials said efforts are underway to locate the woman and determine the reasons behind her disappearance.
The incident has raised concerns about patient safety and monitoring inside government hospitals. Authorities assured that further investigation will establish the circumstances leading to the case.
