Jharsuguda police arrested two youths for committing a robbery at knifepoint near the Sarasmal Railway Overbridge construction site on Thursday morning.
The incident triggered panic in the area and led to a swift investigation.
According to police, Ghanshyam Bhoi of Laikera Thakurpada works as a manager at the ongoing railway overbridge project in Sarasmal. While he was on his way to work, two youths threatened him with a knife, issued death threats, and robbed him of cash.
Ghanshyam lodged a complaint at Jharsuguda Sadar police station. Acting on the report, police registered a case and launched an investigation. Within hours, officers arrested Badal Satnami (19) and Kamalesh Satnami (24) from the Sarasmal area.
Police recovered Rs 12,000 in cash and a cable packet from the accused. Both were produced in court after their arrest.
The incident has raised concerns about rising street crimes in Jharsuguda. Police assured strict action against the culprits and emphasised their commitment to maintaining law and order.
