IndiGo cancelled the Bhubaneswar-Dubai flight scheduled for Monday, citing safety concerns linked to escalating conflict in the Middle East.
Biju Patnaik International Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan informed the media about the cancellation. He confirmed that passengers would receive automatic refunds. The airline operates the Bhubaneswar-Dubai service three times a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Airport officials closely monitored developments in the region. Reports of US and Israeli strikes killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and subsequent Iranian missile barrages led to airspace closures. Authorities said they would review the situation before deciding the status of Wednesday’s flight.
Passengers at the terminal sought updates from staff, who assisted with refunds and alternative travel options. Businessmen from Odisha, families visiting relatives, and students pursuing education abroad rely heavily on the Bhubaneswar-Dubai route.
Domestic flights at Biju Patnaik International Airport continued without disruption. However, international routes faced uncertainty as airlines worldwide adjusted schedules. Officials emphasised that passenger safety remained the top priority.
Travellers checked airline websites and contacted support teams for updates. The cancellation reflected the wider impact of the Middle East conflict on global travel.
