A high-level coordination meeting took place at the office of the DIG of Police, Western Range, Odisha, bringing together senior police officials and representatives of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The session focused on enhancing highway safety, traffic management, and accident prevention across Keonjhar, Sundergarh, and Rourkela—areas identified as highly accident-prone.
Officials discussed strategies to identify and rectify black spots, improve road signage and lighting, and strengthen joint enforcement drives against traffic violations. Both Odisha Police and NHAI reaffirmed their commitment to work closely to implement robust safety measures, optimise emergency response times, and reduce road fatalities.
The meeting emphasised collaborative efforts to ensure safer travel for commuters across the Western Range. Authorities highlighted the importance of coordinated planning and enforcement to address recurring safety challenges on national highways.
