A shocking incident unfolded in Jharsuguda late Saturday night when a younger brother allegedly killed his elder sibling during a heated argument.
Police identified the victim as 28‑year‑old Viveknath Nag, who lived near Brundamal railway station under Badmal police limits.
According to reports, Viveknath and his younger brother, Khirod, engaged in a quarrel over personal issues. The dispute escalated, and in a fit of rage, Kshirodh attacked Viveknath with a stone, causing fatal injuries. After the assault, Khirod fled the scene.
Police received information early Sunday morning and reached the spot. Officers recovered Viveknath’s body and began an investigation. Authorities detained the father, Premanand Nag, for questioning to gather details about the family dispute and the sequence of events.
Residents of the locality expressed shock over the incident, describing the brothers as known figures in the area. The sudden violence has left the community disturbed, highlighting the tragic consequences of unresolved family conflicts.
Police confirmed that efforts are underway to trace and apprehend Khirod.
