In the sixth and budget session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly, the government has formally extended thanks for Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati’s address.
Speaker Surama Padhy invited Government Chief Whip Saroj Pradhan to present the motion of thanks. During his presentation, Pradhan highlighted that the Governor’s speech prioritised public welfare, providing a detailed overview of Odisha’s comprehensive development and the empowerment of all sections of society. He described the address as a guiding and inspirational document for all members of the august House.
Pradhan further emphasised key points from the Governor’s address, including Odisha’s ambitious target to become a $500 billion economy by 2036. This goal aims to increase the state’s contribution to the national GDP from 3% to 5%. Additionally, the adoption of the ‘Waste to Wealth’ approach under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0 is accelerating the vision of a ‘Garbage-Free’ Odisha. Among the successes, over 1.66 lakh individual household toilets are set to be completed this year, along with the operationalisation of 276 micro-composting centres and 235 material recovery facilities.
Pradhan also expressed gratitude to the central government for approving two state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing units in Odisha under the India Semiconductor Mission. This initiative is poised to position Odisha as a semiconductor and electronics hub, creating high-skilled employment opportunities, fostering ancillary industries, and advancing the vision of a self-reliant India through a historic step forward.
The motion of thanks underscores the government’s commitment to translating the Governor’s vision into actionable development for the state.
